Supporting Cooperatives Through a Development Partnership and a GESTE Foundation Project

Through a development partnership between Intersnack Group GmbH and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), a purchase agreement for cashew nuts exists between the agricultural cooperative Aukokrei in Kratie, Cambodia, and Intersnack. Additional agricultural cooperatives supported by the DGRV project are part of a network selling cashew nuts to Intersnack. To enable the cooperative network to deliver 1,350 MT of raw cashew nuts to Intersnack in 2023 and thus fulfill the purchase agreement, more professional and efficient management is required.

Furthermore, the product range of the agricultural cooperatives is to be expanded to create new income opportunities for members. An agricultural advisory service and the sale of inputs are to become part of the cooperatives' portfolio, along with the collection and initial processing of agricultural products. The focus is on developing various business areas with special emphasis on marketing different fruits, vegetables, nuts, and spices.
